I am currently a fifth-year doctoral student at the Dept. of Theatre and Film Studies, University of Georgia. My dissertation "Setting the Stage: A Materialist Semiotic Analysis of Contemporary Bengali Theatre from Kolkata, India" studies select performance examples from group theatre companies in Kolkata, India using the materialist semiotic performance analysis. 

The secondary areas of my research interest are: Indian Ritual Performance, Postcolonial Theory and theatre, feminism and theatre; modern Western theatre, political theatre and Diaspora Performance.

​I'm currently the facilities manager for the Dept. of Theatre and Film Studies, UGA. As the facilities manager I am in charge of all maintaining all the performance spaces in the building including the 700 seat Fine Arts Theatre. I also oversee the rental of our facilities to both university and non-university groups.

​September 2012 - May 2013

 

​I taught English literature (courses on Romantic poetry, modern novel, and Indian writing in English) to first, second and third year classes at this government college in North Kolkata. The college is affiliated to the Calcutta University and follows the 3 year English (hons.) syllabus of the university.

August ​2009 - May 2013

 

​As a GTA of the department I served as the instructor of record for two non-major Introduction to theatre courses (Spring and Maymester 2010). I also worked as a teaching assistant for the same course in Fall 2009, Fall 2011, and Spring 2012. I was the GTA for the Theatre History II (1800-present) course offered during Spring 2011. My responsibilities as a TA included leading breakout sessions, grading student assignments and advising student projects. I was presented with the OUTSTANDING TEACHING ASSISTANT award of the university in Spring 2011.
